For the first time in their short history as members of the PDL, Nashville SC U23 failed to win, drawing 1-1 against S.C. United FC on Tuesday night. It was Nashville's first match of the season that couldn't be streamed online, and the Music City Soccer media empire does not currently have the resources to send someone to Irmo, South Carolina in the middle of the week. But that doesn't mean we can't still do our best to draw conclusions from the information at hand.
1) The winning streak ends at five
This was the first match of Nashville's season in which the U23 side didn't walk away with all three points. With NSC playing five away matches in 10 days, the end of the winning streak was inevitable. Scrapping out results through this run of games was always the main objective, and with four points to show for their efforts in the first two games of the road trip, the Boys In Gold are still in excellent shape.
2) Still in great shape in the standings
With the draw, Nashville moves four points ahead of Charlotte Eagles and six points ahead of Myrtle Beach Mutiny at the top of the South Atlantic Division, though those two teams now have a game in hand on NSC. The top two finishers in the South Atlantic automatically qualify for the Eastern Conference Championship.3) NSC got it done with a heavily rotated side
There were five changes in Nashville's lineup from the 2-1 win over Peachtree City MOBA on Saturday, and the new starters had combined for just 90 minutes of game action prior to Tuesday. Three of those players were making their NSC debuts. To come away with a point under those circumstances against a team that Nashville struggled to break down last week at home is pretty darn good. Here's the starting XI and active roster for tonight's match kicking off at 6. #OurTownOurClub pic.twitter.com/gzSEhT61gL— Nashville SC (@NashvilleSC) June 6, 2017
Next up are South Georgia Tormenta FC on Thursday at Erik Russell Park. Nashville won a 4-3 thriller over the Tormenta on May 20 at Vanderbilt Stadium.
