A Nashville SC center back has been named to the PDL's team of the week, and it's not the one who scored three goals in two games last weekend. It's Denmark native and rising Cincinnati sophomore Patrick Nielsen representing the Music City U23 side's backline, which held Tri-Cities Otters and SC United FC scoreless on Friday and Sunday.
From the PDL's website:
The University of Cincinnati defender – who was named to the All-American Athletic Conference Second Team and All-AAC Rookie Team in 2016 – played all 180 minutes for the Nashville SC U23 in Week 4, helping his side secure two shutouts to improve to 4-0-0 on the season.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you I watched every single PDL match last week, but based on their performances alone, midfielder Martim Galvao and center back Kyle McLagan (who teamed up for a pair of set piece goals that helped the Boys In Gold edge out SC United) probably at least deserved an honorable mention.
NSC are tied with Myrtle Beach Mutiny for the South Atlantic Division's best defense, with each side yielding exactly one goal per 90 minutes.
