Tanner Dietrich and Martim Galvao named to PDL's top 20 prospects

The PDL's website has released its ranking of the league's top 50 prospects, updated to reflect year-to-date performances in the 2017. A pair of Nashville SC U23 midfielders made the cut, with attacking mid Martim Galvao checking in at No. 14 and defensive mid Tanner Dietrich two spots behind at No. 16.

A note from the PDL on their methodology:

A total of 24 scouts across North America, including coaching directors, technical directors and head coaches, provide the PDL with valuable insight on the top Under-23 performers in the league throughout the season. The Top Prospects list, which serves as a resource for professional clubs who are interested in identifying and scouting high-level players, ranks players based on their performance within the PDL, their technical and tactical qualities and their potential to play at the professional level.
The PDL doesn't expound upon which attributes led to each individual's placement on the list, but Nashville SC fans won't be surprised to see the spine of the Boys In Gold's 4-4-3 formation placed so high up their rankings.

Galvao has scored three goals and assisted four more, already surpassing his marks in those categories during 717 minutes played last season with the Ocean City Nor'easters. The Portuguese national has been the mastermind of NSC's attack, which currently ranks second in the PDL with 16 goals scored in four games.

In Nashville's defensive third, Dietrich has shielded the back line well, breaking up opponents' attacks before they can threaten William Pyle's goal, while also contributing a goal and an assist on the offensive end. The Nashville native was part of a Clemson team that made it to the elite eight in the 2016 College Cup.

Galvao finished the 2016 at No. 24 in the PDL's prospect ranking. This is Dietrich's first year competing in the league.
